Batala Mersey is an upbeat and energetic community drumming group bringing the rhythms of Afro-Brazilian samba!
Rhythms are played out on four different types of drum; the heavy Bass line is the heart beat behind the melodic Dobra, the rapid-fire Repinique and the pulsing waves of the Caixia. Light and dark illuminate each other in an exciting fusion of samba, reggae and funk grooves.
We feature at some of the UK's biggest and brightest events including Brazilica, LightNight, Africa Oye and Notting Hill Carnival. Our members also have the opportunity to drum all over the world and regularly play with our 46 worldwide sister groups in 11 European countries plus Australia, USA, Mexico, Argentina, Africa and of course Brazil, the homeland of samba reggae and where it all began.
You can book the band for gigs, festivals, sporting events, club nights, awards ceremonies and charity fundraisers across the North West of England.
